Lewis Hamilton will attempt to break Michael Schumacher’s 14-year record at this weekend’s Portuguese Grand Prix as the Mercedes driver attempts to claim a 92nd career victory on unknown territory.

Formula One heads to the Algarve International Circuit in Portimao for the first time this weekend, with the second of four consecutive unfamiliar circuits seeing the Portuguese Grand Prix return to the calendar for the first time in 24 years.

Hamilton arrives in Portimao with a commanding 69-point lead in the drivers’ championship, and should he record another victory this weekend following his triumph last time out in the Eifel Grand Prix, not only will he break Schumacher’s record for the highest number of career victories, but he will edge closer towards a record-equalling seventh world title with a close-to-unassailable lead in the drivers’ championship.

The six-time champion leads Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas, and with

The week in TV: Roadkill; DNA; The Same Sky; Out of Her Mind and more | Drama

Roadkill (BBC One) | iPlayer
DNA (BBC Four) | iPlayer
The Same Sky (More4) | All 4
Out of Her Mind (BBC Two) | iPlayer
Count Basie: Through His Own Eyes (BBC Four) | iPlayer

At least Roadkill isn’t as bad as Collateral, David Hare’s last big-budget BBC outing. It doesn’t water-cannon us with message – asylum seekers good, security services bad – or strain so hard to avoid cliched cops that it creates an unbelievable one. And it’s blessed with Hugh Laurie and Helen McCrory, who almost redeem it from itself.

And it doesn’t, for once, wear its Tory-hating credentials on its ragged academic sleeve; indeed, Hare has said that he tried, for once, to get to grips with the mindset of a “good” or at least maverick Tory. And Laurie plays Peter Laurence MP with a superb credibility: a corrupt Tory MP, yes, with secret plans to

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko told U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in a phone call on Saturday that Belarus and Russia were ready to respond jointly to external threats, Russian agencies quoted Belarus state media as saying.

Lukashenko, who is holding on to power despite major protests in recent weeks calling for him to resign, is facing the prospect of a national strike that could begin on Monday following an ultimatum set by opposition leaders.

Lukashenko has shown no sign he will heed the ultimatum and step down. Protests against his 26-year rule began following an Aug. 9 election victory his opponents say was rigged.

Lukashenko had sought to mend fences with the West in recent years and Pompeo had travelled to Belarus in February in a

State reports more than 1,100 new coronavirus cases, prompting calls for a new state plan

The 1,128 new cases reported Saturday represented the highest one-day hike since late May and along with the growing number were demands the state start laying out what officials plan to do as the weather grows colder and people gather indoors more frequently.

Dr. Robert Horsburgh, a professor of epidemiology at Boston University, expressed frustration Saturday that the state hasn’t rolled out specific plans, even as the governor anticipates more cases.

“He hasn’t told us what his plan was. He’s confident that they can handle it, great. But what’s the plan?” Horsburgh said.

The latest number of new cases “means more people are catching it, and we should be thinking about how to stop it, otherwise we’ll end up looking like Wisconsin,” Horsburgh said.

Dr. Sam Scarpino, a Northeastern University epidemiologist, said scientists have some evidence that the coronavirus could spread more easily in colder, drier weather.

“It could be

Lindsey Buckingham Is Also Vibin’, Records His Own “Dreams” TikTok: Watch

The post Lindsey Buckingham Is Also Vibin’, Records His Own “Dreams” TikTok: Watch appeared first on Consequence of Sound.

Like cranberry juice, the “Dreams” TikTok challenge started out sweet and then quickly ran its course. Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham is the latest to hop on the bandwagon, sharing a 15-second video on social media.

The trend was started by the slick skateboarding of Nathan Apodaca, who later received a truck full of cranberry juice from Ocean Spray for his trouble. It got new life when Mick Fleetwood joined TikTok to recreate Apodaca’s video, and then Stevie Nicks laced up her skates to get in on the fun. All the attention pushed “Dreams” onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the first time since 1977, while making Rumors a top-ten album.

In announcing his own video, Buckingham wrote that he, “Made this with my girls this weekend.” The clip
