Why did an Oregon health official dressed like a clown read off the coronavirus death toll?

A video in which Oregon Health Authority officials dressed in costume give COVID-19 information is getting national attention, almost two weeks after it was initially posted.

The reason? A screenshot of the video showing an official in sad clown makeup reading off the daily virus death toll was shared widely on social media after it was tweeted by an Oregonian/OregonLive reporter, Samantha Swindler.

The story has been covered by Fox News, The Independent, TMZ and others.

Dr. Claire Poché, a public health physician with the Oregon Health Authority, kicked off the Halloween safety video by removing her surgical mask to reveal a full face of clown make-up, somewhat reminiscent of the Joker, one of Batman’s creepiest rivals.

“As of today, there have been 38,160 cases of COVID-19 in Oregon, with 390 new cases being reported today,” Poché said. “Sadly, we are also reporting three deaths today, bringing the statewide total

Why Daya Needs You to Vote With Empathy This Year: ‘This Is Not Just About You’

That reintroduction officially came in the form of “First Time,” Daya’s first official solo release in over a year, and her first since landing a new joint record deal with Sandlot Records and AWAL. The track, a sunkissed, tropical dance anthem, sees Daya fully embracing her sexuality, experimenting with her sound, and kicking off a new era of her recording career.

It feels like I’m in a space where I’m more comfortable with myself,” she says. “I’ve gone through a lot of growth personally, and life, just experience-wise and relationship-wise. I’m in a place to kind of be more vulnerable, and talk about my feelings in a more vulnerable, personal way.”

Even her new music video for “First Time” sees Daya letting loose and getting creative — directed by the singer’s girlfriend Clyde Munroe, the video follows Daya on a roadtrip, where the star lets herself run free through

Census Bureau: Young adults make up the largest share of those without health insurance

Young adults ages 19 to 34 have the highest uninsured health care rates in the country, according to census data — and Nicholas Williams hopes not to enter into that category.

He’s anxious, though. That’s because Williams will turn 26 next month, making him ineligible to remain on his parents’ health insurance plan under Affordable Care Act regulations.

“Twenty-six is the end of the road for me,” Williams said, referring to his current ACA plan. “I’m definitely nervous. … You’re cut off. I’ll be on my own.”

Before implementation of the ACA in 2010, health insurers set the age limit, which varied.

Williams, who lives with his family in East Islip, is frantically job hunting, with multiple interviews lined up, he said. Williams said he has a degree in social studies from St. Francis College and is interested in a job in customer service.

His health insurance needs are not

Lil Nas X slams criticism of his Nicki Minaj Halloween costume

Lil Nas X took to Twitter on Saturday to clap back at people criticizing his 2020 Halloween costume, an homage to Nicki Minaj.

The “Old Town Road” singer got dressed in elaborate drag as the iconic rapper for the holiday but not everyone was a fan.

One person wrote, “How much money u think Lil nas x is being paid to destroy the minds of young black kids to go against their God?”

Lil Nas X swiftly responded to the homophobic comment, writing, “yes because ur child is gonna say ‘lil nas x dressed up as nicki minaj so why should i worship god anymore.'”

The original comment has since been deleted.

That wasn’t the only commenter that appeared to be unhappy about the 21-year-old’s outfit on social media. Rapper 50 Cent tweeted, “what the f—, Nikki come get him !!! Lol.”

Big Brother: All-Stars has a winner.

Cody Calafiore won the 22nd season of the hit CBS reality series on Wednesday night’s live two-hour finale, defeating Enzo Palumbo by a final jury vote of 9-0. Nicole Franzel, meanwhile, was voted out during the episode in third place.

Prior to Wednesday’s finale, Franzel, 28, defeated Calafiore, 29, and Palumbo, 42, in the Halloween-themed part 1 of the final Head of Household competition of the season, allowing her to move directly to part 3.

In part 2, which unfolded on Wednesday, Calafiore easily bested Palumbo, meaning Calafiore and Franzel would compete in part 3. That competition took place later in the episode, and Calafiore was the winner.

Ultimately, Calafiore, as the final Head of Household of the season, decided to evict Franzel and take Palumbo with him to face the jury in the final 2.

Amazon streamers hit 2020 low: Fire TV Stick Lite is $18, Fire TV Stick 4K back at $30

This story is part of Holiday Gift Guide 2020, CNET’s gift picks with expert advice, reviews and recommendations for the latest tech gifts for you and your family.

Remember Prime Day? Two weeks ago, we were surprised to see that Amazon’s latest 2020 Fire TV Stick streamers weren’t on sale. But that’s now been remedied: Amazon is having an “Alexa Birthday Deals” sale today, and Best Buy is having its biggest early Black Friday sale yet — and both of them have Fire TV Stick deals aplenty. Both new models get $12 knocked off the stick price: The new Fire TV Stick Lite is just $18 and the 2020 Fire Stick — which adds a remote that controls your TV’s power and volume — is just $28. That said, you should skip that last model and pay $2 more for the Fire TV Stick 4K, which is back down

FTC discusses potential antitrust case against Facebook

Thursday’s meeting came two days after the Justice Department filed an antitrust lawsuit against Google, and as coalitions of state attorneys general are weighing whether to bring their own complaints against the search giant. Facebook — with more than 2.2 billion users worldwide — ranks second behind Google in claiming a share of revenue from the online advertising market.

Attorneys general from multiple states are also pursuing antitrust probes against Facebook, though it is unclear whether they would be able to join the FTC’s case if the agency files one.

The FTC investigative process involves teams of antitrust attorneys, economists and litigators who can each make their own recommendation to the agency’s commissioners on whether to pursue a case. Attorneys from the agency’s Bureau of Competition marshal documents and witness interviews, while staff in the Bureau of Economics analyze economic theories and models to determine whether they have enough evidence

How Road Warriors Like Bruce Springsteen & AC/DC Have Evolved to Promote New Albums Without Splashy Tours

In recent years, younger, contemporary stars like Post Malone, Drake and Billie Eilish have dominated recorded music, while older artists such as The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and Elton John make most of their revenue from touring. But with touring on hold, those acts have had to change their mindsets. “It drags the artist into the future — or into the present,” says Carl Mello, Newbury Comics’ director of brand engagement, citing Springsteen’s SiriusXM presence and AC/DC’s recent appearance on Dean Delray‘s Let There Be Talk podcast to promote the upcoming album PWR/UP. “It’s prepared them for the world that we live in, and made it a necessity rather than a choice.”

The lack of touring revenue has devastated the music economy throughout 2020, but many of the biggest veteran stars can absorb the financial blow — their focus is more on making sure fans are aware of
