Jeezy evolves from ‘Trap or Die’ to ‘Grow or Die’

Self-improvement can be a difficult journey. It’s often an arduous process that takes time to work through and move toward. But Jeezy, who burst onto the national music scene in meteoric fashion 15 years ago with his accounts of street life and drug dealing, is relaying a new message on his latest album: Evolving is not only possible, but necessary.

“Everything that I ever wrote or spoke on was about evolution. It was about evolving. And that’s a clear message,” the Atlanta emcee said. “I never wanted to stay the way I came into anything. It just doesn’t make logical sense. You have to grow or you die.”

It’s a stark contrast from his initial “trap or die” mantra of the mid-2000s. But it’s that philosophy of change that fuels his new album, “The Recession 2,” a follow-up to 2008’s “The Recession.” The artist who taught hip-hop fans about Georgia

Why Argentine soccer legend was loved like no other

Diego Maradona was perhaps the greatest player ever to kick a soccer ball. And yet that only goes so far to explain the global outpouring of grief when he died this week.

Some argue the Brazilian Pele won more trophies, or that fellow Argentine Lionel Messi and Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo have approached comparable skill levels.

But there are none like Maradona — “el pibe de oro” or “the golden kid” — who rose from the impoverished barrios of Buenos Aires to become a true international icon.

“He transcended the sport,” Jon Smith, a leading British sports agent who represented Maradona between 1986 and 1991, told NBC News.

“He went to some very dark corners,” he added, “but history will be kind to Diego because his talent was so supreme and he never lost that desire to help the unfortunate.”

Maradona was buried Thursday having spent the day lying in state

Fans Think Ariana Grande Hid a Secret Tribute to Mac Miller on “Positions”

Ariana Grande has been known to leave hidden messages in her songs and videos, and her clever clue placement often leads fans down a rabbit hole of theories. Her latest album, Positions, is no exception — and some fans are convinced they spotted what seems to be a subtle tribute to Ariana’s late ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller, who passed away in September 2018.

As noted by TikTok user @maraleebell, if you listen closely during the title track, you can hear a crickets sound effect right after Ari sings the word “heaven.”

“But,” Maralee says in the video, “That’s not the only time crickets are featured on the album. We hear them one other time in a very specific place.” Sure enough, if you turn on “Just Like Magic,” you’ll hear the crickets again just as Ari finishes up the line “take my pen and write some love letters to heaven.”

Jófríður says on the acoustic “Good Time”: “The song was written in my old room in the loft in New York in late 2017. I had a great heartache and I thought to myself, ok it’s time, I’m going to write a country song. I knew what it was supposed to be and feel like and in my memory it seems as if the song wrote itself. Good Time is about coming to terms with the end.. Something I think we all struggle with from time to time.”

George Harrison Estate Releases New Mix of ‘All Things Must Pass’ Title Track

Of all his post-Beatles undertakings, George Harrison was especially fond of All Things Must Pass, the 1970 triple-LP set he released months after the group had officially imploded.

“It was a really nice experience making that album — because I was really a bit paranoid, musically,” Harrison said a few years later. “I remember having those people in the studio and thinking, ‘God, these songs are so fruity!’ I’d play it to them and they’d say, ‘Wow, yeah! Great song!’ And I’d say, ‘Really? Do you really like it?’ I realized that it was OK.”

For the album’s 30th anniversary in 2000, Harrison oversaw a new mix of it, which included a remake of its ubiquitous hit “My Sweet Lord.” Now, to commemorate today’s 50th anniversary of the album, Harrison’s estate is releasing a sparkling new mix of the title track of “All Things Must Pass,” which also previews
