Police alerted to illegal Mackinac Bridge climber after he posted photos on social media

MACKINAW CITY, MI – Someone climbed the Mackinac Bridge, snapped photos and then posted them to social media last month. Now, he could face felony charges.

The Mackinac Bridge Authority is calling the stunt “inexcusably reckless.”

This person risked his own life and put people crossing the bridge in danger, said MBA executive secretary Kim Nowack. If a rescue had been needed, the lives of emergency personnel and bridge staff would have been also been at risk.

A bridge alarm was activated one morning in early November, but staff couldn’t determine what triggered it, according to a news release from the Michigan Department of Transportation. Several hours later, another alarm went off and a person was seen leaving the bridge. Local police were called to investigate but couldn’t find the individual.

Bridge authority staff later became aware of photos taken from atop one of the bridge towers that were posted

“Euphoria” Releases Posters For First Special Bridge Episode

We’re just a few days away from the special Euphoria holiday episodes, and the hit HBO series has blessed us with an early gift to unwrap: the posters for the first installment.

Zendaya gave fans a sneak peek at the upcoming “bridge” episodes, which will serve as a link between Seasons 1 and 2. In the poster, you can see Rue in her signature maroon hoodie with her arms spread out next to her. “This is not Season 2,” the text reads (an important reminder), along with the note that “Part 1: Rue” will be hitting HBO on December 6. Hunter Schafer, who plays Jules on the series, shared another version of the poster, which shows Rue and Jules casually lying on a bed and smiling for the camera.

As previously reported, Euphoria has been planning two additional episodes to “bridge the gap” between seasons, as filming had been delayed

The crumbling bridge that two presidents couldn’t fix faces an uncertain future

Scenes like this have played out frequently on the docks of the Anderson Ferry, a fixture on Cincinnati’s west side, since a fiery crash on Wednesday closed the Brent Spence Bridge. The closure has created a logistical nightmare for hundreds of thousands of vehicles that cross the river every week and reopened long-simmering political sparring about the span’s future.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear announced on Monday that after an exhaustive inspection, experts determined the bridge’s structural integrity survived the fire. Repairs will be made, and the bridge is expected to reopen on Dec. 23, Beshear said.

Rick Taylor, president of the Kentucky Trucking Association, said it’s good news that the bridge will be in service soon, but it’s just a Band-Aid. “The bridge needs to be replaced,” Taylor said.

The Brent Spence connects Kentucky and Ohio, drawing traffic from two interstate highways, I-75 and I-71, across its aging decks. In

Genoa Bridge Collapse: 3 Arrested in Probe

Authorities in Genoa on Wednesday handed down warrants for the arrest of several top managers at the company tasked with overseeing a bridge that collapsed in the city in 2018 killing 43 people, the clearest attempt yet to hold the company’s leadership accountable for the tragedy.

Prosecutors issued warrants for the former chief executive officer and other officials at the motorway operator, Autostrade per l’Italia, which managed the Morandi Bridge, in a probe into highway neglect.

Giovanni Castellucci, the former C.E.O. of Atlantia, of which Autostrade per l’Italia is a subsidiary, Michele Donferri Mitelli, the former general director of maintenance for the company, and Paolo Berti, its chief operations and maintenance officer, were all placed under house arrest.

The decision was welcomed by the families of the victims, who have waited for years for someone to be held accountable.

“It is an extremely important day,” Egle Possetti, the head of

Al Michaels has no idea how the Golden Gate Bridge got its name, does he?

If there’s one thing Sunday Night Football sportscaster Al Michaels loves to wax poetically about, it’s San Francisco’s iconic Golden Gate Bridge.

Never mind that it’s a full hour drive away from where the 49ers play in Santa Clara — NBC always includes it in a transition shot coming out of a commercial, and Michaels never, ever misses a chance to talk about how much he loves it.

“What a sight that is, the Golden Gate Bridge,” Michaels said during Sunday’s broadcast

Boston Asian American Film Festival a bridge for indie artists

Like so many events this year, the Boston Asian American Film Festival opening Wednesday is a brand-new gig.

“People in our community are living in intergenerational households with elderly people,” noted Susan Chinsen, founding director of BAAFF. “We’ve gone totally virtual this year out of consideration of COVID regulations for our staff members and audiences.”

Initially, she revealed, “we thought of the drive-in idea but the obstacles were cost prohibitive.

“We’ve been longtime friends with ArtsEmerson (at Emerson College) and joined their staff this past year and were able to consider how they’re providing access to cinema. They offer this virtual space in an accessible way.”

BAAFF opens with “Definition Please,” which is written, directed and stars Sujata Day, who is known from Issa Rae’s “Insecure.” Following the opening night screening, “Sujata will be in conversation with two other actors,” Chinsen said.

“Closing night is a documentary by Ramona S.
