Snoh Aalegra Debuts Exclusive “Find Someone Like You” and “I Want You Around” Performances

“When I was nine years old, I told my mom, ‘I’m going to be an artist, let’s do this,’” Snoh Aalegra laughs. Her mother picked up the phone book and started making calls. Without any demos or recordings to share, she landed a meeting with a studio executive who gave her young daughter a chance to sing for him. That eventually led to a development deal with Sony ATV in Sweden for the hopeful 13-year-old. At the time the family lived in Enköping and a young Aalegra had to travel 45 minutes to Stockholm after school and on the weekends to attend recording sessions.

She looks back on those years fondly, remembering train rides as a time to sit quietly with her thoughts. In the first of two new exclusive performances, Aalegra returns to that familiar train setting with a four-piece band for a new rendition of “Find Someone Like

LiSA Returns to No. 1, NMB48 Debuts at No. 2 on Japan Hot 100

NMB48’s 24th single “Koi nanka No thank you!” sold 146,941 copies in its first week to lead sales this week, but couldn’t add enough points in other metrics to overtake LiSA’s mega-hit movie theme. The J-pop girl group bows at No. 2.

Billboard Japan and TikTok launched a new project called NEXT FIRE in October to highlight the hottest next-gen J-pop acts on a monthly basis through its hybrid weekly programs. The featured artist for November, Yuuri, is enjoying marked uptick in streaming since he live-streamed a performance of his latest single “Dryflower” on Nov. 6, reaching 7,721,082 streams this week to give the singer-songwriter his first-ever top 10 hit on the Japan Hot 100. His viral indie hit “Kakurenbo” (“Hide-and-seek”) — a track that went on to become a TikTok phenomenon and scored him a major label contract this summer — also jumped from No. 47 to No. 37

AC/DC Debuts at No. 1, Powered by CD Sales

One truism of the music business in the 21st century: AC/DC will sell a ton of albums, no matter the prevailing digital format.

“Power Up,” the Australian hard-rock heroes’ first LP in six years, has proved that correct once again, opening at No. 1 on the Billboard chart ahead of a new streaming hit by the rappers Future and Lil Uzi Vert. “Power Up” had the equivalent of 117,000 sales in the United States, according to Nielsen Music, almost all of that number attributed to copies sold as a complete package — otherwise known as albums, a format that AC/DC has plenty of experience with, selling some 200 million around the world over the last 45 years, according to the band’s label, Columbia.

Selling old-fashioned LPs has indeed become more difficult in the digital age. That has been the conventional wisdom for years now, and AC/DC has happily done its
