Hunter Biden questions are too important for the media to dismiss

National Public Radio (NPR) explained last Thursday why it refuses on principle to cover the New York Post’s reporting on the potentially problematic financial dealings of Hunter Biden and the Biden family. “We don’t want to waste our time on stories that are not really stories,” said Terence Samuels, NPR’s managing editor for news, “and we don’t want to waste the listeners’ and readers’ time on stories that are just pure distractions.”

This sentiment was echoed shortly thereafter by Leslie Stahl of CBS’s “60 Minutes,” who claimed she would not cover the story because it “can’t be verified.”

Forget for a moment that it is the job of journalists to verify stories. Also forget that, in this instance, a taxpayer-funded media institution such as NPR is trying to unilaterally discredit the journalistic integrity of a major media outlet without attempting to provide any evidence, and that it did so by

Tucker Carlson Suggests His Hunter Biden Dirt Was Intercepted in the Mail

Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who has devoted the lion’s share of his airtime recently to allegations of corruption surrounding Hunter Biden, insisted on Wednesday night that he was in possession of more damning Biden evidence but that the “confidential documents” were intercepted at a shipping center.

After devoting his opening segment to recapping his Tuesday night interview with Tony Bobulinski, a former Hunter Biden associate who is now claiming Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is lying about his involvement in his son’s Chinese business dealings, Carlson then delivered an extremely detailed tale about supposedly new bombshell materials.

“So on Monday this week, we received—from a source—a series of confidential documents related to the Biden camp,” Carlson said. “We believe those documents are authentic, are real, and damning.”

The Fox News star said that when the documents were received, he and his executive producer were in Los Angeles interviewing Bobulinski.

Hunter Biden, the Wall Street Journal and the decline of media gatekeepers

The thing about “fake news” is that it suddenly seems authentic when it’s on your side.

For all of President Trump’s attacks on the “enemy of the people”–and some criticism from the Bernie Sanders wing that derides the corporate-controlled media–nonpartisan journalists can still be useful in the role of umpire. And that’s why the president, and politicians of all stripes, try to orchestrate favorable coverage, especially on controversial issues.

This enables them to point to a news story as validation of whatever political charge they’re hurling at the moment. Such stories give their rhetoric a certain gravitas, a patina of credibility.

But–and here’s the rub–nowhere near as much as in the past. A huge swath of the country no longer trusts the elite media, which has been battered by Trumpian attacks as well as their own increasingly blatant biases and blunders. Many

Opinion | The Media’s Hunter Biden Conundrum

But that’s not exactly right. The internet has certainly created new spaces for eccentric ideas and conspiratorial narratives to flourish, and the transformation of the Republican Party into a populist formation with its own distinctive media ecosystem has weakened the power of national newspapers to influence Republican politicians. But the G.O.P. speaks for a minority of Americans and fewer and fewer American elites, and the internet has also expanded the audience for certain media institutions at the expense of the rest of the media industry, giving them arguably more influence over the non-Fox News-watching portion of the public than in the recent past. This means institutions like The Times or the Washington Post have a different kind of power than they did 30 years ago, but they have power all the same — including the power to contain almost any story that initially circulates on the right, and to shape

Mainstream media tries to tamp down Hunter Biden email story

This is a rush transcript from “Tucker Carlson Tonight” October 19, 2020. This copy may not be in its final form and may be updated.

TUCKER CARLSON, FOX NEWS HOST:  Good evening, and welcome to TUCKER CARLSON TONIGHT.

Last week, “The New York Post” published one of the great scoops of the year. The paper’s editors got a copy of the hard drive from Hunter Biden’s personal laptop. On it were tens of thousands of e-mails, videos, texts, and photographs.

Much of the material on the laptop is of limited relevance to the public.

Not everything a famous person does in the course of a day has news value.

Some of the pictures in the laptop were sad and weird, of prurient interest only. We’re not going to show the bad ones on this show.

And by the way, if we’re being honest, some of the exchanges between Hunter Biden

Treasure hunter caught digging in Yellowstone cemetery is indicted by federal grand jury

There are just some places you shouldn’t dig for a treasure. And a historic cemetery, inside a national park, is very much one of those places.

A Utah man has been formally indicted on charges of unlawfully excavating and damaging the Fort Yellowstone Cemetery in Wyoming between October 2019 and May 2020, allegedly in search of a hidden chest containing gold, gems and rare coins.

Rodrick Dow Craythorn, 52, was found digging in the historic Fort Yellowstone Cemetery in search of the Forrest Fenn treasure.

Rodrick Dow Craythorn, 52, appeared in federal court Thursday, where he pleaded not guilty to the two charges — one of which alleges that he willingly and knowingly attempted to “excavate, remove, damage, alter and deface” archaeological resources, and another which alleges he willfully intended to “damage, injure, and commit depredation against property belonging to the United States,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office,

Cruz blasts media for not ‘even pretending to do their job’ on Hunter Biden story

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas slammed the mainstream media on Thursday for ignoring the ongoing scandal surrounding Hunter Biden’s overseas business interests, saying they were “not even pretending to do their job” to address the story.

“I think that’s really dangerous,” Cruz told “The Story” Thursday. “Particularly when you combine it with Big Tech censorship … what is at stake in the selection is really fundamental about whether we are going to preserve our freedoms and constitutional liberties.”

Cruz made the comment moments after Hunter Biden’s former business partner Tony Bobulinski conducted a pre-debate press conference in which he detailed Joe Biden’s alleged connection to his son’s dealings. Bobulinski confirmed in a statement earlier Thursday that an email published last week by the New York Post suggesting as much is “genuine.”

“It’s worth underscoring [that] what makes this story significant is not Hunter Biden,” Cruz said. “Hunter, by all accounts, has

Gowdy rips media silence on Hunter Biden scandal: ‘It’s relevant whether Joe Biden took any money’

Former House Oversight Committee chairman Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., blasted the mainstream media Thursday for downplaying confirmation by Hunter Biden’s former business partner that an email published by the New York Post last week is “genuine.”

“I don’t hear anyone contesting the authenticity of the underlying material which means it’s relevant,” Gowdy told “Bill Hemmer Reports”.  “It may be criminally relevant and that’s up to the FBI and DOJ … [but] I really don’t think the bureau and the Department of Justice are going to do anything between now and the election.

“So, who provides oversight in our culture that’s not criminal? That would be the media,” Gowdy added, underscoring the failure to explore “whether or not these emails are accurate and whether Joe Biden was truthful” when the Democratic nominee repeatedly claimed that he and Hunter did not discuss overseas business during his time as vice president.

 “Keep in mind,

MAGA world, GOP unite on social-media bias after Hunter Biden story

The flurry of activity caps a summer of anti-Big Tech maneuvering among conservatives, from anger over Twitter’s decision to post disclaimers on President Donald Trump’s tweets, to Attorney General Bill Barr’s rush to file an antitrust case against Google just two weeks before the election.

But now, in a matter of days, the handling of a single New York Post story has pushed long-simmering MAGA complaints about social-media bias to the top of Republicans’ talking points.

“They proved that all the lunatic ravings of the right were correct, and that there’s no objectivity [on social media platforms] whatsoever,” said Ron Coleman, a prominent conservative lawyer known for his work on tech censorship and free speech issues.

For nearly a decade, conservatives have accused social media companies of deliberately silencing them through a variety of subtle means — claiming their videos don’t always show up on their subscribers’ Facebook feeds, or

Tucker Carlson: Media, intel agencies collude to spread real ‘disinformation’ about Hunter Biden story

Editor’s Note: This article is adapted from Tucker Carlson’s opening commentary on the Oct. 19, 2020 edition of “Tucker Carlson Tonight”

Last week, The New York Post published one of the great scoops of the year. The paper’s editors got a copy of the hard drive from Hunter Biden’s personal laptop. On it were tens of thousands of emails, videos, texts and photographs.

One very newsworthy series of emails showed that as vice president of the United States, Joe Biden tailored American foreign policy — our foreign policy, which Joe Biden does not own — in order to help his son’s business interests. Biden intervened aggressively in the internal affairs of another sovereign nation, Ukraine, and his son got paid for that. By any measure, that is a real story.

Something then happened that was bigger and far more dangerous to our country than anything the New York Post found
