The race is steady, but here are the key numbers to look for.

Another deluge of polls from across the country today, from some of the country’s best-known pollsters and from some even I have never heard of.

The big picture. Another day of polls, another day without good news for the president. Here’s one easy way to tell: There’s a lot of blue on these tables. In particular, there’s a lot more blue in the right-most column, which represents the difference between a poll result and the 2016 election result.

Coronavirus Live Updates: New Cases Climb Above 70,000

The world-wide total of confirmed coronavirus cases neared 44 million, with more than 1.16 million dead, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

India: New cases climbed, a day after dipping to the lowest daily level in more than three months. On Wednesday, India reported 43,893 new cases, as the total number neared eight million, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The country’s death toll rose by 508 to 120,010.

China: Health authorities reported 22 symptomatic, locally transmitted cases for Tuesday, the highest single-day increase since early August. The rise comes as a cluster of cases in the city of Kashgar, in the far-western region of Xinjiang has emerged. As of Tuesday, authorities said the city had identified a total of 183 coronavirus cases after completing a mass testing program.

German parliament vice-president dies after collapsing ahead of live TV interview

Germany’s parliamentary vice-president Thomas Oppermann has died after suddenly collapsing on set while doing television work.

The 66-year-old was on Sunday preparing to appear virtually on live political affairs programme Berlin Direkt, which had already begun broadcasting, when he collapsed at the Max Planck Institute in Gottingen.

Television crew immediately called emergency services, public broadcaster ZDF said, but Mr Oppermann later died in hospital.

No information has been provided as to his cause of death, but ZDF chief Theo Koll said Mr Oppermann appeared “professional and relaxed” during talks before he was due to go live on-air, according to Die Welt.

German chancellor Angela Merkel on Monday said she was “shocked and saddened” at the death of Mr Oppermann, whose Social Democrat party serves as the junior partner in a coalition government with Ms Merkel’s Christian Democrats.

Offset Detained for Questioning By Police During Instagram Live

Offset was detained and released by police on Saturday, October 24, while driving through a rally for President Donald Trump in Beverly Hills, California.

The rapper, 28, livestreamed the incident on Instagram Live as police attempted to detain him while he was in the car. In the video, Offset argues with several police officers and refuses to get out of the vehicle.

“I’m a f–king celebrity, do you know who I am? I’m Offset from Migos,” he tells police. “You told me to put my hands up. I’m not doing that,” adding, “There’s 25,000 people on my livestream. You’re gonna get sued publicly.”

John Mulaney and The Strokes set as next Saturday Night Live host and musical guest

John Mulaney is really here for Saturday Night Live in the trying year that is 2020.

The comedian will return to host the live comedy sketch show on Oct. 31. It will mark his fourth time hosting and his second time in 2020 alone.

Mulaney previously hosted on Leap Day back in February and was the second-to-last host of the show’s live episodes in their 45th season before they converted to special at-home episodes for the remainder of the spring.
