Three Classic Eddie Van Halen Guitars Sold For $422,000

Three classic guitars designed and played by Eddie Van Halen sold for $422,000 at a Julien’s Auction earlier this week. The sale, which included items from stars including Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain, Lady Gaga, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson and Elvis, was highlighted by a trio of the late guitar hero’s customized instruments, including one of his Kramer “Frankenstrat” models with the signature white and black stripes on a red body, which went for $231,250.

His 2004 EVH Charvel Art Series ax went for $140,800 and the guitar and costume that EVH used in the “Hot For Teacher” video brought in $50,000. The items went under the hammer as part of Tuesday and Wednesday’s “Icons & Idols Trilogy: Rock ‘N’ Roll” event, which went online just over a month after Van Halen died (on Oct. 6) at age 65 following a long battle with cancer.

Van Morrison and Eric Clapton Strike the Wrong Note About COVID-19

Did Van Morrison and Eric Clapton not get the memo that there is a global health catastrophe that has so far claimed nearly 1.5 million lives worldwide? Do they not know that this pandemic is far from over?

In what world are these two living?

The fact that they would decide to collaborate on a song slamming COVID-19 lockdowns, discouraging people from taking extreme precautions and wearing masks to protect themselves and others, is beyond unconscionable.

With coronavirus cases surging in the U.S., the U.K., Europe and many regions around the world, Morrison and Clapton had the audacity to release “Stand and Deliver,” a song that flies in the face of government orders aimed at stemming further spread of the deadly disease. The CDC is predicting that the death toll is going to climb much higher.

These tone-deaf musical legends appear to be oblivious to the seriousness of this health

Eddie Van Halen, Pop Smoke, Naya Rivera, Little Richard & More Appear in 2020 ‘Sgt. Pepper’s’ Cover Tribute

British artist Chris Barker’s annual Beatles-style tribute to lost celebs includes some of 2020’s biggest losses, including Little Richard, George Floyd, Bill Withers, Pop Smoke, soccer legend Diego Maradona, Chadwick Boseman and Van Halen guitarist Eddie Van Halen. Barker — who has been meticulously crafting his homage to the infamous cover of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Bandsince 2016 as a tribute to dearly departed pop culture icons and newsmakers — said his initial idea was to start with a blank slate in January and just add faces as the year went on.

That approach would have simply meant swapping out some images for more prominent ones as the year went on for a more “interactive” art project (see the final image below). But as this annus horribilis just kept getting more and more horribilis, he was glad he didn’t switch up his style. “Early

Universal have approached ‘Overload’ filmmaker Julius Avery to direct a new tale about the classic vampire hunting character, while James Wan is in line to produce the as-yet untitled film through his Atomic Monster company, along with Michael Clear.

‘Black Widow’ screenwriter Eric Pearson has penned the script for the new movie and Julius will undertake rewrites.

Specific details about the film, including how and where Van Helsing will feature, are being kept under wraps.

Hugh Jackman previously starred in Stephen Sommers’ 2004 movie ‘Van Helsing’ – which saw the vampire hunter come up against characters including Dracula, Mr. Hyde and the Wolfman – but it was poorly received and failed to branch out into a franchise as had been hoped.

The character’s roots date back to Bram Stoker’s classic 1897 novel ‘Dracula’.

EXCLUSIVE: After relaunching its monster-movie library with the hit The Invisible Man, Universal Pictures is continuing to build up its development slate and has its sights on one of its more iconic non-monster characters. Sources tell Deadline that Universal is developing an original horror/thriller inspired by the studio’s classic monster legacy set in the world of Van Helsing, with Julius Avery (Overlord) directing and James Wan producing through his Atomic Monster banner.

Wan will produce with Michael Clear, and the company’s Judson Scott will serve as executive producer.

The logline for the script is being kept under wraps, but the film is set in the world of the famous monster hunter. How Van Helsing will be used in this film is unknown, but the character — who first appeared in Bram Stroker’s novel Dracula — has had his run over

“Overlord” director Julius Avery will helm an original horror/thriller inspired by Universal’s “Van Helsing,” according to an individual with knowledge of the project.

James Wan will produce via his Atomic Monster banner with Michael Clear. Atomic Monster’s Judson Scott will serve as executive producer.

The logline for the script is being kept under wraps, but the film is set in the world of “Van Helsing.” Avery will also rewrite the script written by “Black Widow’s” Eric Pearson, who wrote the original script.

Universal has remained committed to creating filmmaker-driven projects based on characters from the studio’s vast monsters legacy. That approach proved successful with Blumhouse and Leigh Whannell’s “The Invisible Man,” for which the studio decided not to push forward with the initial notion of an interconnected universe, and instead halted and reassessed. “The

Van Morrison and Eric Clapton Tease New Anti-Lockdown Song ‘Stand and Deliver’

Legendary musicians Van Morrison and Eric Clapton have teamed up for the new anti-lockdown song “Stand and Deliver.”

Written by Morrison and performed by Clapton, “Stand and Deliver” will be available for download and streaming on Dec. 4. The track will support Morrison’s ongoing Save Live Music campaign.

In recent months, Morrison has released three songs protesting the U.K. government’s lockdown as a result of COVID-19. “Born To Be Free,” “As I Walked Out” and “No More Lockdown” dropped separately between September and October.

“I’m not telling people what to do or think, the government is doing a great job of that already,” the 75-year-old singer said in a statement announcing the protest anthems. “It’s about freedom of choice, I believe people should have the right to think for themselves.”

Morrison has been campaigning for a re-opening of performance venues at full capacity, with the statement noting that

Eric Clapton Joins Van Morrison for New ‘Anti-Lockdown’ Song ‘Stand and Deliver’

According to Variety, Van Morrison and Eric Clapton will be releasing a new “anti-lockdown” song next month, at precisely the moment many cities are shutting down once again to stave off a climb in COVID-19 cases, to support Morrison’s “Save Live Music” campaign. The track, titled “Stand and Deliver,” was written by the “Brown-Eyed Girl” singer and will be performed by Clapton. Morrison also previously released three “anti-lockdown” songs earlier this fall, including “Born to Be Free,” “As I Walked Out,” and (in case you weren’t clear on the message of the musician’s most recent work) “No More Lockdown.” Proceeds from the new single, set to drop on December 4, will go to Morrison’s Lockdown Financial Hardship Fund to benefit musicians.

Ted Cruz Applauds Van Morrison And Eric Clapton’s Anti-Lockdown Song

Republican politicians continue to insist that locking down the country to help quarantine against the raging pandemic is a bad idea. There hasn’t been a federal lockdown in America yet, but those who are opposed to it happening do keep asserting how against it they are. Similarly, over the past few months, Van Morrison has made his anti-lockdown stance clear with several songs, including a dismissal of social-distancing as pseudo science.

Today, it was revealed that another classic rock legend, Eric Clapton, has joined Van in the sentiment, and their new song “Stand And Deliver” will be released early next month. Obviously, plenty of fans of these two musical icons have been saddened to learn that their heroes don’t believe in logic and science. However, one of the aforementioned Republican politicians has welcomed news of the song with open arms, and even gone so far as to assert that its

Music Legends Eric Clapton, Van Morrison Team For Anti-Lockdown Single

Music legends Van Morrison and Eric Clapton have announced a new single, “Stand and Deliver,” in support of Morrison’s Save Live Music campaign. The blues track was written by Morrison and is performed by Clapton.

Morrison, best known for songs like “Brown Eyed Girl,” “Domino” and “Wild Night,” as well as seminal albums “Moondance” and “Astral Weeks,” released three songs protesting the U.K. lockdown over September and October, titled “Born To Be Free,” “As I Walked Out” and “No More Lockdown.”

Clapton — the only three-time inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame — called the dearth of live events due to lockdown restrictions “deeply upsetting.”
